Victoria Johnson studied with Leif Jørgensen at the Oslo Conservatory. She continued her studies at the State Academy in Vienna under Franz Samohy and later with Detlef Hahn at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, where she was awarded her Diploma with honours. Victoria gave her debut recital in Oslo in 1995 to great acclaim and has since performed as a soloist with many orchestras and participated in international chamber music festivals. From 1993-95 she held the position of principal a leader in The Norwegian Opera Orchestra and now frequently performs both contemporary and early music as a member of the string duo Kyberia, the Ametri String Quartet, and Johnson Baroque.
As an improviser, Victoria has worked with Edvin Østvik and Magne Tormodseter, performed with Kyberia at New Music Azerbajan and Blaa jazz club, Oslo, and toured improvised music for young people for the Norwegian Concert Council. She is currently a member of the improvisation quintet FAT BATTERY.
Victoria has commissioned and performed several pieces for solo violin and electronics from composers both within and outside Norway, which she premiered at the Autunnale festival of contemporary music, Bergen in September 2003. Since August 2005 Victoria has been a member of the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, Norway.
